Chevrolet Discounts Suburban By 11 Percent In April 2019

Chevrolet Suburban sales decreased 25 percent to 11,029 units in the first quarter of 2019. The decrease is not great news considering current market trends that strongly favor SUVs and crossovers over sedans, which means that the Suburban is falling behind in its highly-lucrative segment. And now, in what could be a way to boost sales volume prior to the arrival of the all-new model, a new Chevrolet discount reduces the price of select Suburban models by 11 percent, which in some cases can be over $8,500.

The Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet discounts on the Suburban for April 2019 are as follows:

  • 11% off MSRP: 11 percent below MSRP on most models for Current Competitive Owners who finance with GM Financial
  • Cash Allowance: $1,500 customer cash + $4,500 package cash allowance + $1,5000 cash allowance on select models when financing with GM Financial = $7,500 total cash allowance (does not apply to Suburban 3500HD)

Shoppers should note that the 11 percent discount is only offered to Current Competitive Owners. For those who qualify, Chevy offers the following example of the discount as it applies to a Suburban Premier with an MSRP of $77,505:

  • $4,366 price reduction + $4,159 purchase cash = total discount of $8,525

For reference, here are the applicable 2019 Suburban trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:

  • LS – $52,095

About Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban is an extended-length, full-size Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). It is currently Chevrolet's biggest SUV, slotting above the Chevrolet Tahoe, which is the same vehicle as the Suburban, but with a shorter wheelbase. The current model was introduced for the 2015 model year and represents the 12th generation of the Suburban nameplate. The model rides on the GMT-K2 platform shared with the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL as well as the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.

The 2019 Chevy Suburban represents the fifth model year of the 12th-generation Suburban, and offers up a new exterior color, a new Premier badge on the tailgate, and new color availability for the Suburban RST as well as the rear-closeout feature. In addition, two new models are introduced, both offering the 6.2L V8 L86 engine and 10-speed transmission. The first is the Suburban RST Performance Package that focuses on performance while the second is the Premier Plus model that focuses on luxury. The addition of the 6.2L V8 engine addresses a long-standing request of potential customers and enthusiasts on the K2-generation Suburban, which spent the first four years of its lifespan being offered exclusively with the less potent 5.3L V8 L83 engine.

The Chevrolet Suburban is built at the GM Arlington factory in Texas operated by GM USA.

  1. The Suburban is arguably Chevrolet’s finest and most important vehicle in the Chevrolet vehicle portfolio. The current generation Suburban had a great run, but the large SUV segment is heating up, as Ford’s Expedition/Max has proven to be genuinely competitive product in this segment. With the all-new 2020 MY Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe as well as the GMC Yukon/Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade/ESV right around the corner for this year, an exciting chapter in the book of GM’s core competency is soon to begin. I shall be waiting..

The Corvette would like a word with you.

I mean, I get where you’re coming from in that the Suburban nameplate is as old as it is and has remained largely untarnished and undiminished over time as market demands shifts and competitors come and go. Mercifully, GM hasn’t left the nameplate to wither and die of neglect like the Express, and each subsequent generation of the Suburban is better than the last, but I disagree that the its the most important in the Chevrolet range.

    2. I’ve been waiting for the new model to be revealed as well. If they intend it to be a 2020, they’d be get a round to letting us know what the heck it looks like!

      1. GM has learned that early reveals kill sales, so this is smart.

  2. The main reason many of you don’t know is:

Suburbans were bought a lot by independent limo drivers signed up to work for the so called “global” players with no fleet 😉 . Last year a few major players in the industry dropped the Chevy Suburban from their fleets and many of those independent chauffeurs had to face the challenge to buy Escalade and Navigator instead, in order to survive. Limo industry is huge and have in mind that only in Chicago there are over 2-3000 Suburbans registered to be Limos. So do the math.
Add also, multiple A/C problems, burning headlight bulbs, transmission problems, emission problems, engine problems, and even private people might have backed out from it.

Still the Suburbam is the best looking American SUV out there, for now
