In an effort to further boost confidence in its imported line of vehicles, Holden will actually pay car shoppers if they test drive one of its cars and end up purchasing a competitor.
Holden calls it the “Test Drive Challenge,” which will dish out $500 AUD to shoppers, WhichCar reported. For example, buyers who test drive a 2018 ZB Commodore and purchase any rival car in the same segment will receive the $500 AUD in the form of a gift card. Shoppers cannot test drive, say, a Holden Colorado and then purchase a competitor’s sedan. Shoppers must also claim the rebate by August 31.
The marketing ploy is an effort to put more drivers in the seats of Holdens before deciding on a single vehicle. Holden sales remain dismal following the end of local manufacturing and even the brand’s managing director, Mark Bernhard, has admitted the company is in rougher shape than imagined.

Everything in Oz is an import. Goes to show how much being domestic mattered for Holden.
GM will exit Australia within three years. Holden will be history like Opel and other mismanaged regional brands.
Eventually either Chevrolet or Buick will move in. Buick should be GMs Pacific brand. Most of Asia has had a bad Chevy experience.
