The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking “track car,” but it certainly holds its own during an autocross event.
The Detroit News took one standard issue Bolt EV and put it through its paces to hunt down a couple cone apexes. As Henry Payne, driver of the Bolt EV, explains, electric cars are actually quite good for autocross outings. Ask our own Manoli Katakis, he autocrosses a second-generation Chevrolet Volt. The low-end torque (and some proper tires) make it a very competitive vehicle.
Ditto for the Bolt EV, which kept up with Fiesta STs, and Audi TT and other various cars. Stereotypes be darned, let’s see more green cars on the track. Check out the video for yourself.
