The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse marks a new era for the brand’s full-size crossover. This time around, Chevrolet will be gunning for more consumers than before with a handful of trims to segment consumers. Those include an RS trim, High Country and now the Redline edition.
Chevrolet took the wraps off the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Redline edition at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, where the crossover receives plenty of sport-inspired cues.
Specifically, the 2018 Traverse Redline features black wheels featuring distinct red hash marks, black nameplates with a red outline, blacked-out grilles and black Chevrolet bowtie logos. We also think the 2018 Traverse wears the Redline package best of the crossovers and trucks.
“Our special edition lineup has been popular with customers and dealers, alike” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “Since the introduction of special editions on vehicles the like Silverado and Camaro, vehicle average transaction prices have increased, time to turn has decreased, and conquest rates have risen, which has contributed to making Chevrolet the fastest-growing brand in the industry two years in a row.”
Expect the 2018 Traverse Redline to debut shortly after the crossover launches later this year.

The question is what will power this redline edition.
The same engine options. It’s an aesthetic package only. Black Rims w/ red accents, blacked chrome grill and black bowtie. I’m curious to see if there is a badging option
Wow, how impressive. Just an appearance package? Let’s hope they offer a V8 engine or even a twin turbo V6 soon enough. And about that RS trim, let’s hope that gets overhauled for a Twin Turbo V6 or a V8 engine, standard Twin Clutch AWD from the High Country, and a sport mode. Oh yeah, and what about the Dodge Durango SRT? Let’s hope they offer a trim that competes directly with it, like a Traverse ZL1 or something, with the 6.2 V8 from the Corvette Stingray or Camaro ZL1, once again, the Twin Clutch AWD system off the high country trim, a track mode, and a performance data recorder. Also, about that V8 engine and twin turbo V6 I mentioned for the RS trim, let’s hope that engine, whichever engine takes the 2.0L Turbo I4s spot in the RS trim, becomes available in the top end High Country trim.
I heard rumors it will be the same as the RS model – 2.0L turbocharged engine!
My guess would be that GM must be working on some engine performance options for the bunch of new crossover SUVs?
Maybe a year or so after initial release?
Wow, I thought maybe Chevy would actually offer an engine with some guts for the Red Line edition. I’ll still blow its doors off with my ’13 Explorer Sport. After 80K miles, I’m still amazed at how quick that thing is given its size. I can tow my 21 foot cuddy up and down hills and my Sport doesn’t break a sweat. I would consider looking at a Traverse in a couple of years, but not with those paltry power plants. I guess the Bow Tie thinks that the soccer moms only care about form, not function.
