General Motors Files Trademark Application For ‘Shoreline’

General Motors filed an application to register “Shoreline” as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, GM Authority has exclusively discovered.

The automaker’s February 2nd, 2016 application is assigned serial number 86894478 and specifies that the mark will be used for “Motor land vehicles, namely, passenger trucks.”

General Motors Shoreline USPTO Trademark Application

The GM Authority Take

Based on the goods and services category of the application, it would appear that GM is planning on using the Shoreline name on a variant of a passenger pickup truck, possibly as the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevy Colorado, or GMC Canyon. The question now is, what would a Shoreline model bring to the table?

  1. My guess is it focus on the Gear-On cargo options (cross rails for kayaks and bikes), as well as the Sport Bar (roll bar). Available in the more ‘earthy’ paint colours

  3. It would be the perfect name for a beachcomber SUV similar to the blue Jeep Chief concept that came out at MOAB in 2015. It’d be in my top 5 cars to get if so…. but alas I can only justify 1 vehicle per licensed driver in my household til I win the big one.
