Last month, GM Authority reported that GM is still working towards launching the Cadillac brand in the Brazilian market sometime in the near future. Cadillac’s forthcoming launch in Brazil coincides with a growing presence in Europe and a forthcoming launch in Australia, all of which underline GM’s global expansion for the luxury brand. To that end, GM is planning to offer a range of new Cadillac EVs in the Brazilian market, as covered previously. Now, GM Authority has yet another exclusive on the topic.
GM Authority has uncovered that General Motors recently filed to trademark the “Escalade IQL” nameplate in Brazil. The trademark was officially registered with the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) on September 9th, 2024, under the goods and services category of “motorized land vehicles, namely automobiles.” The application is tagged with serial number 936148446.
The new trademark filing provides a significant clue when it comes to sussing out Cadillac’s product strategy for the Brazilian market. Notably, the Escalade IQL has yet to make its official debut in North America. As the long-wheelbase counterpart to the all-electric Escalade IQ, the IQL will mirror the role of the ICE-based Escalade ESV, offering more passenger and cargo space compared to its standard-length sibling thanks to larger exterior dimensions.
As for juicy bits under the skin, the upcoming Escalade IQL is expected to be more or less identical to the standard-length Escalade IQ. Both models will be underpinned by the GM BT1 platform, with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain equipped as standard. Output for the standard-length Escalade IQ (and likely the IQL as well) is set at 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. With Velocity Max mode activated, these numbers climb to an impressive 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. Electricity will be supplied by a 24-module battery pack, with the standard-length Escalade IQ rated at 460 miles between plugs.
Cadillac Escalade IQL production will likely take place at GM’s Factory Zero facility in Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, just like the Escalade IQ.

At least GM has a place to sell them.
