The pursuit of power: it will never, ever subside. Especially for cars like the 2016 C7 Corvette Stingray.
Thankfully, aftermarket companies like MSD Performance are busy engineering away to provide consumers with options for when stock horsepower output isn’t enough. And it never is, is it?
MSD Performance was on location at the 2015 PRI Show, and the company brought with it its latest Atomic Air Force intake, made exclusively to play well with the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine in the C7 Corvette Stingray.
We’ll leave the technical details and the engineering process to the professional in the video, and give you what you really want to know: how much power are we talking? MSD Performance says consumers can expect an addition 40 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque when installing the Atomic Air Force intake to their C7 Corvette. Those are impressive numbers, especially for a fairly simple bolt on part.
But, when you listen to what goes into creating and engineering something like this, it all makes sense. Check it out for yourself up above.

considering that the LS version of this Intake is still in the “vapor ware” category, I’d be very surprised to see this one go anywhere either.
The problem isn’t making a new intake for GM V8s. The problem is FAST so cornered the market with a kick-ass, highly adaptable intake that unless you can do the same for 60% or less of the price of a FAST; you may as well not bother. And So far no one has been able to do that.
All of the new intakes are hovering just under a grand or in MSDs case, over a grand. If I’m going to spend that type of money, then I’m going with a well established proven company…FAST.
We are all still waiting for some one to answer the call. I for one think it’s ludicrous to be spending that type of money on a intake. That said, GM is engineering them so well now, that these are almost superfluous except in the more extreme hp requirements.
