“Cadillac continues to maintain global growth through 2015, while improving the quality of the business in the U.S.,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “We continue to raise our average transaction price in the U.S. and remain disciplined in our strategy to build the brand in the long-term.”

Notable reasons for Cadillac’s sales decline include:
- A planned reduction in fleet sales, which are less profitable for the automaker. As a result, Average Transaction Prices (ATPs) were roughly $52,000, a record for Cadillac for July and higher than either of its key competitors for the month (provided by Cadillac)
- A lack of crossover models (outside of the SRX), which as a whole are very much in vogue, experiencing cumulative growth faster than any other type of vehicle (provided by GM Authority)
- Weaker brand image compared to key competitors (provided by GM Authority)

There has been a lot of discussion on this site about Cadillac, etc.; the brand will come back, but can’t do it over night. Too much emphasis is made on volume of sales, etc. My ATS Premium that I have owned for nearly 3 years has been bullet-proof; best car I’ve ever owned. And, one advantage of fewer sales for the owner: nice not to see everyone else driving your car (Lexus and BMW 3 Series, anyone?).
It’s a god car indeed, but it does have a few things to improve on to be better than BMW 3. On the other hand, if everyone else is driving your car, it probably means that it’s very good. Like, 3 Series good.
I think the CTS 2010 that I own, is a great sedan. However the newer models are off the chart price wise. Plus I don’t like the name plate change with out its wreath . It gave the emblem a certain distinction. The cars are elegant. They are “diamonds” for sure. I love DIAMONDS!!! Cadillac use to advertise with them!!!!
The “new” CTS is leaps and bounds better than the one you have. And, as they say, you get what you pay for. Though you might want to look at the ATS as well, as it’s still better than the CTS you have while being at a similar price point.
It is way past time that Cadillac had a new large 7-passemger SUV based on the Chevy Traverse/Buick Enclave instead of the truck-like Escalade. If I had my way at Cadillac that new vehicle will be named SK8 (a phonetic version of Escalade).
There is no such thing as vehicles based on another automaker anymore. The new term is considered, “shared platforms or shared architecture”.
The XT5 will share platforms with the lesser siblings but will not be based on anything since it will come out first in Spring Hill, TN.
If we’re splitting hairs, then the XT5 will be “based” on GM’s C1XX platform, which will also be shared — in various forms — with the next-gen Traverse, Acadia, Enclave, and others. I would still like to see the vehicle based on the Alpha platform of the ATS and CTS, though.
A large, 7-/8-passenger crossover is coming. Luckily, it won’t be based on anything Chevy, Buick, or GMC — but rather on the Omega platform.
