While the Chevrolet brand itself has been phased out of Europe, that doesn’t mean the halo Corvette will be left out. Chevrolet has announced the UK premiere for the 2016 C7 Corvette Z06 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. And we feel the 2016 Z06 fits quite well with the festival’s “Flat-Out and Fearless” theme.
The 2016 Z06 debut comes on the heels of the Corvette C7.R’s showing at the 83rd running of 24 Hours of Le Mans, where plenty of learnings from the Corvette racing program have trickled to the civilian Corvette Stingray and Z06.
“The Corvette Z06 is a great example of the technology transfer between racing and production Corvettes,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette Chief Engineer.
“As one of the biggest gatherings of motorsports and supercar enthusiasts in the world, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the ideal venue for Chevrolet to display its performance car capabilities.” added Alan Batey, Chevrolet Global Brand Chief. “We are particularly excited to premiere the all-new Corvette Z06 to our UK fans and a very special surprise that we will announce closer to the festival.”
Guests of the Goodwood Festival of Speed will be treated to the 2016 C7 Z06 at the bespoke Chevrolet Cafe, supplying refreshments surrounded by today’s modern Corvette muscle, as well as Corvette machinery of yore.
The 659 hp Z06 will also tackle the famed Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb as part of this year’s Michelin Supercar Run to the delight of guests. During the excitement, Chevrolet has also planned a “Road to Le Mans” video series featuring key members of the Corvette Racing team including Oliver Gavin.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, with the annual Goodwood Moving Motor Show on Thursday, June 25.
