Cadillac made some huge improvements in switching to their new ATS-V.R racecar from the CTS-V.R. It has a racing version of Cadillac’s twin-turbocharged LF4 V6 engine, the same 6-speed paddle shift transmission from the C7.R, GT3-spec aerodynamics, a more advanced steering wheel and much, much more.
All these changes mean Cadillac Racing will be stuck with a faster, more efficient car in the Pirelli World Challenge this year, or so they are hoping. It might take the team a little bit to warm up to the new V6-powered car and its higher downforce levels, but we’re confident once they’re used to it, it will be a championship winning car just like the CTS was.
Pilgrim recently took RACER on a short tour around his new ATS-V.R in the pits at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. There’s few people outside of the Cadillac Racing team that know the ATS-V.R better than pilgrim, except for maybe the Pratt & Miller group that built it, so why not hear what he has to say about it? Check it out in the video below, and don’t forget to keep up with Cadillac as they race for another consecutive Pirelli World Challenge title this year.
