Hennssey Performance Engineering has already proven the performance prowess of its HPE650 supercharged 2015 GMC Sierra by throwing it on the dyno. Their tests showed the upgraded half-ton was throwing 545 horsepower and 539 lb-ft of torque at its rear wheels, an impressive amount of power for a pickup. But it’s hard to visualize what kind of performance advantage this translates to on the road, so John Hennssey decided to take his creation out for a quick spin to show us.
The HPE650 package includes a 2.9-liter supercharger, a high flow intercooler system, an HPE camshaft, high flow cylinder heads, a stainless steel exhaust system, HPE engine calibration and dyno tuning. The result is a truck that is much faster than stock, a fact which Hennssey proves by stacking the HPE650-equipped Sierra up against a bone-stock 6.2-liter Chevrolet Silverado in a drag race.
Anyone who’s driven a new General Motors full-size truck or SUV with the EcoTec3 6.2-liter V8 knows the engine provides a surprising amount of performance. However even after giving the Silverado a bit of a head start, the HPE650 Sierra  beats the already quick Silverado by more than a few lengths. Check it out in the video below.
