General Motors is recalling certain mid-size SUVs for an issue with the driver side window switch module, AutoGuide reports.
The problem: The master power window module for the driver side window has a leak which may allow fluid into it, resulting a short in the circuit board. GM says if the circuit board shorts out, the components may begin to work intermittently or even overheat, melting part of the door. In extreme cases, the module may catch on fire.
Vehicles affected: 2005-2007 Saab 9-7x, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender models are affected by the recall.
Number of vehicles being recalled: A total of 184,611 SUVs have a faulty window switch module, GM says.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the the master power window switch module and install a new one free of charge if necessary. Owners will begin receiving a letter notifying them of the recall in late August and will receive a second follow up letter when the necessary parts are available.
Contacts: Vehicles owners may search their VIN number to see if it is involved in a recall using this website. The phone numbers for GM’s customer assistance lines can also be found here.

These were the worst vehicles from GM in the 2000’s. I am so glad they are gone! There was no thought put into the design, build quality was horrendous, and let’s not even talk about the terrible 4.2L I6..
I have a 2005 trailblazer with faulty door module, but it is not listed here by VIN#. Will this be something I have to pay for myself or will GM honor the recall?
I have the same problem with my 2005 trailblazer xlt. I have a call in to gm and they said they are going to call the dealer and set an appointment for diagnostics. They said I would have to pay for that. I told them I would have to continue to drive it as I only have 1 vehicle and I hope it didn’t catch fire.
My vehicle has this issue but isn’t on the recall list
