It took nearly all of the twelve hours, but Corvette Racing squeaked out a win at the 61st annual Mobil 1 12 Hours Of Sebring. And it was 26-year-old Tommy Milner who was the hero of the night, making a late pass by the No. 62 Ferrari F458 Italia in the final 15 minutes with the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R. The car was the victor of the American Le Mans Series GT Class, and the season opener of the 2013 ALMS season.
The winning No. 4 C6.R was driven by Milner, Oliver Gavin, and Richard Westbrook, with the trio managing to overcome an electrical issue and two key penalties to win the 2013 ALMS opener. It is Gavin’s fifth victory at Sebring, while Milner and Westbrook each recorded their first.
The No. 3 GT Compuware Corvette C6.R — driven by Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor were forced to turn in early with three hours remaining due to an overheated gearbox, finishing in 11th. The car also had an electrical issue.
Still, winner, winner, chicken dinner.
