GM Canada Adds Third Shift In Oshawa, St. Catherines Plants For Impala Production

As the ink dries on the new labor agreement between GM Canada and the Canadian Auto Workers, the company has announced plans to add a third shift to Oshawa Assembly‘s Flexible Manufacturing Line to produce the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

Additionally, one shift of production will be extended on the Oshawa Consolidated Line until June 2014, while a third shift of production will be added at St. Catharines Powertrain in order to provide more six-speed front wheel drive transmissions. All the actions will be based on market demand.

  1. No new jobs , as the current Impala plant will be winding down production over the next year or so , and we’ll add third shift workers from that operation to the flex line in Oshawa.
