If you’re on the hunt for an old-school sport truck that’s guaranteed to turn heads, this 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 RSR might be the perfect fit. Built by Choo Choo Customs in Chattanooga, Tennessee as one of a series of limited-edition pickups, this particular Silverado Sportside pickup is offered at auction by its original owner with 44,000 miles on the clock. To sweeten the deal, to truck is available at no reserve.
Let’s start with the sizzling single-cab exterior, where we find this Silverado 1500 RSR is finished in a striking shade of yellow, accentuated by bold black stripes on the hood and down the flanks. The custom appearance package includes distinctive RSR badging, a simulated cowl induction hood, sport mirrors, slotted taillight covers, and dual polished exhaust outlets, all of which enhance its aggressive stance. Adding to the look is a two-inch suspension drop and 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels.
Under the hood lies the 4.8L Vortec V8 engine, which has been upgraded with the 330HP SLP Performance Package, upping output from 285 horsepower to, you guessed it, 330 horsepower. Upgrades include a cold air intake, revised rocker arms, stainless-steel exhaust headers, and a custom tune. Output is directed to rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which is connected to a limited-slip differential and 3.73 gears.
Inside, the cabin continues the black and yellow theme with leather upholstery with RSR embroidery on the headrests. There’s also a Hurst shifter, dual-zone climate control, and a Parrot Bluetooth receiver. The dashboard shows yellow accents, a 120-mph speedometer, and 6,000-rpm tachometer.
The truck was originally delivered new to Green Chevrolet in Peoria, Illinois, and now, it’s offered at no reserve in North Carolina from Bring a Trailer, complete with the original rear bumper, supporting literature, and a clean North Carolina title.

Very cool. Would love to see a 2024 version.
If Chevy still offered this version = short bed, single cab with usual options (NOT a work truck), they would sell. Instead, they make you buy a 4-door that many people don’t want or need. Wake up, Chevy – – give people this option.
A new Silverado regular cab, regular bed can be far better equipped than this 20 year old truck.
It’s not only chevy..it’s across the board..every lot is full of 4 door trucks..I refuse to buy one…had to look forever to find my new 3/4 ton single cab with options
The big three also need to drop the semi truck styling and go back to the beautiful simplicity of trucks like this! If I want a peterbuilt I’ll buy a peterbuilt.
A step side short bed regular cab truck. About as useless as the SSR was back in the day.
Hey Karrpilot – – what you are saying is that YOU have no use for this type of truck. There are plenty of us who would use this truck as basic transportation. We would never consider hauling a load of topsoil, or haybales or cages of chickens or whatever you country boys do with your work trucks. It would be a cool piece of transportation – – just like my red 2003 SSR that no one in their right mind would buy to haul “stuff”. Everyone is entitled to their opinion . . . without forcing it on others.
I own a 2004 GMC Sierra Southern Comfort Conversion regular cab sportside, that I’ve been driving for twenty years. Yes bought new. Truck is interior is stock with automatic transmission. Exterior has a flare kit with built in running boards and a custom paint using two GM colors, top bright red with a burgundy lower fading into the bright red. All set off with 19 in custom wheels.
I prefer the fleet side.
The bed is longer than most crew cab beds. All comes down to a decent bed or a back seat.
