Xfinity NASCAR Chevy Teams Can’t Seal Deal At Daytona: Video

While a NASCAR Chevy Camaro SS led the most laps during the Xfinity Series race at Daytona on August 23^rd, 2024, he couldn’t track down the leaders in the closing laps as a pair of Toyotas took the yellow / checkered flags in an Overtime finish. Instead, Justin Allgaier had to settle for seventh place in the No. 7 Camaro at the line.

However, the points standings fell in The Bow Tie’s favor after Daytona. Allgaier leaves the track with the points lead after his main competitor, the No. 00 Ford Mustang Dark Horse of Cole Custer, suffered an early race incident on Pit Road that took him out of contention and relegated him to a 32^nd-place finish. Heading into Daytona, Custer held a 50-point lead over Allgaier, but now, Allgaier holds 33 points over Custer.

Parker Kligerman raced his No. 48 Camaro to a third-place result, the best of all the NASCAR Chevy racers. Jordan Anderson drove his No. 32 Camaro finished sixth, Leland Honeyman’s No. 42 Camaro finished ninth, while Kyle Weatherman followed in the No. 91 Camaro for a 10^th-place finish.

Up front, Ryan Truex, driver of the No. 19 Toyota TRD Supra, captured the win, followed by the No. 81 Camaro of Chandler Smith in second. Kligerman, Riley Herbst’s No. 98 Mustang, and Ryan Sieg’s No. 39 Mustang rounded out the rest of the top five.

Overall, there were 19 lead changes among six drivers throughout the race. Cautions slowed the field seven times, accounting for 34 laps.
