A Tesla Cybertruck lined up against a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport for a one-lap shootout at Colorado National Speedway in Dacono, CO last weekend, but its driver learned a valuable lesson: never underestimate good old American muscle.
When Michael entered his Cybertruck in the Circle Drags – a series of one-lap drag races that pit daring spectators and their daily drivers against one another in an elimination bracket – he likely expected to ditch the low-slung Corvette that pulled up next to him at the stripe. And, thanks to the magic of electric torque, he did just that when the green flag waved, lunging ahead of Robert’s Vette as they broke into Turn 1.
The Cybertruck stretched its lead through Turns 1 and 2, then galloped down the back straightaway with a clear track ahead and the Corvette Grand Sport behind. Michael’s advantage didn’t last long, though. Robert gained some ground on the Cybertruck charging into Turn 3 (much to the delight of the fans), putting his Vette right up on the back end of the electric pickup. The two racers almost touched at the apex of the turn as Michael tried to take away Robert’s line, but that was when the Corvette driver made his move.
Diving low, the Corvette Grand Sport executed a classic “crossover” and nosed to the inside of the Cybertruck’s quarter panel. As the Tesla washed up the track, Robert rallied his Vette and dropped the hammer on the front stretch, putting Michael and his EV in the rearview.
The dark blue Corvette Grand Sport shot across the stripe with a clear advantage, winning the round and putting the Tesla Cybertruck in its place on the 3/8-mile asphalt oval. The Cybertruck was eliminated, jeered by fans as it headed off the track.

When is losing by about a car length…or less.. considered “being owned”?.
When the goal is to write a clickbait headline.
Do they make a lumber rack for the cyber truck? I’ll keep my Silverado.
Can you buy a lumber rack for the cyber truck? I’ll keep my Silverado.
Cyber truck certainly owns being the ugliest vehicle ever mass produced. The stainless steel even tarnishes, somehow make it even uglier.
The Daimler SP250 is a real close second. Real close.
Not a fan of the ev’s yet… but I kind of like the rust look idea- I know acquired taste – steelpunk?
😂
I am the biggest critic of batteries since the Prius even more so when subsidized and talking up space in my carpool lane!!! Which everyone in L.A. gave it as the reason for getting one…
But, the new sodium battery tech I think is very important.. especially since there about to start mining the ocean for these damn battery parts…
FYI mining was the beginning of pollution.

Cyber t in our apt complex. Looks and rattles like an old galvanized garbage can .
ICE Rules
Well the corvette almost 30 years old. Let’s rematch when the cyber sled is 30 years old. It will be in the cyber scrap heap
Gasoline forever
The electric junk pile shouldn’t even be allowed close to any track they are made for real race cars the cyberpunk are moneypit piece of #$#@&%
Unsurprising. Remind me again, how much does that truck weigh? Corners, not a friend of weight.
Was he racing the 600HP all wheel drive or the 840HP Beast? I have been a fan of American muscle and ingenuity including my drag racing days in the 80’s. That being said, I am proud of my EV CT and can fully enjoy both! I’m an American father and grandfather and competition makes us better! Bring it, race it, make it better! We have better things to fight about.
I own both (2023 Corvette 3LT Z51 and Cybertruck Beast). In every day driving, the Vette seems remarkably slow in comparison. Once you get used to the instant response of an EV, it’s almost dangerous to drive a gas vehicle. It’s like driving an early 80s turbo vehicle with turbo-lag. Also own a Lucid Air which is also quicker than the Vette. The Vette is the slowest car that I own so it’s probably going up for sale soon. Only 2500 miles, fully loaded convertible, arctic white, tension blue/twilight with lift and MSRC. PM if interested.
So this report thinks a truck getting beat by a Corvette. is a real race. Name one pickup truck that would beat the Corvette.
You need to fire this reporter and replace him with someone that has some idea how vehicles work!
This guy is a moron.

A Lucid Air, a Cyber”beast”, and 2023 Z51? Doubt. Lemme see a for sale post.
Amen.
This video just proves the guy driving the Corvette is a better driver, and that a 7000lbs truck can’t corner like a 3200lbs Corvette.
That’s why the CT lost. It isn’t meant to handle well. The CT is clearly faster out of the hole on the corners, the Vette just had a faster exit out of them and was able to maintain better momentum.
I guess the point of this article is to make the cybertruck look bad. However, I ended up being impressed that the Tesla truck could compete with a Corvette.
I guess we came out with different reactions. Tesla truck drivers do dumb things. My reaction was keep my distance from idiots on the road.
Physics won the race. Enough said.
That corvette will still be around 30 years from now that truck at double the price will not
