The Chevy and GMC C/K truck lineup, which spanned four generations and five decades, is a popular choice for enthusiasts of General Motors’ venerable pickup series. Unfortunately, the climate control systems in these old trucks can leave much to be desired. To help alleviate this issue, Vintage Air has released a new A/C solution for 1988 to 1994 Chevy and GMC C/K trucks.
Designed as a completely bolt-in affair, Vintage Air has announced that its all-new Gen-5 SureFit climate control system is now available for the OBS pickup lineup, along with select SUVs. Intended for vehicles originally equipped with factory A/C systems, this Gen-5 unit is available as either a complete kit or an evaporator kit.
Of course, as a direct fit, this Vintage Air system can be installed with only minimal modifications to the original firewall.
This Gen-5 system is Vintage Air’s most advanced climate control system yet. In fact, this unit features several OEM-like quality pieces, including an injection-molded case assembly, new higher-torque actuator motors and rubber over-molded blend air doors. Equipped with Vintage Air’s largest and most powerful blower motor, this system delivers 20 percent more cubic feet of air per minute (CFM) than standard blowers.
The details go deeper than the hardware. The Gen-5 climate control system utilizes an exclusive fully electronic microprocessor control system that eliminates cables or vacuum connections. Moreover, there are also high-capacity parallel-flow heater coils and aluminum plate-and-fin cooling coils that provide outstanding performance and infinite air blends, with variable blower fan speed adjustments and high-volume dehumidified defrost.
If that wasn’t enough, each kit also comes with a bolt-in LED-backlit control panel that boasts a factory-style appearance.
Each kit is manufactured in the U.S., and includes everything you need to install one in your 1988-1994 Chevy or GMC C/K truck. For more details, be sure to visit the Vintage Air webpage.
