Chevy Traverse Inventory Very Low In May 2023

Chevy Traverse inventory levels across the U.S. fell slightly as of the beginning of May 2023, GM Authority sources familiar with the matter tell us.

7,300 units of the Chevy Traverse were on the ground at dealerships as of May 1st, 2023, with an additional 6,600 examples of the full-size crossover on their way to dealers across the U.S. This gives the Traverse a 17 days supply, meaning there is sufficient Traverse inventory for 17 days at the current sales pace. For reference, a 60 days supply was considered normal prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s worth noting that this is the second consecutive month of a decline in days supply for the Chevy Traverse, as April 2023 figures reflected a 19 days supply with 8,000 units on the ground and 6,800 units in transit. Before that, inventory levels had been slowly rising. Starting in January 2023, the Traverse had a 16 days supply with 6,043 units on the ground and 9,616 units in transit. Then, in February 2023, the Traverse had a 17 days supply with roughly 5,000 units on the ground and 8,200 units in transit. Finally, in March 2023, the Traverse had a 21 days supply with 7,200 units on the ground and 7,000 more units in transit.

However, when compared to May 2022 figures, inventory levels of the Bow Tie crossover have improved massively.

In regard to sales figures, the Chevy Traverse had a strong Q1 2023, with sales noticeably rising as compared to the same timeframe last year.

As far as the current 2023 Traverse is concerned, the Bow Tie brand’s full-size crossover features the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Under the body panels, the Traverse rides on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

For those who may be unaware, the next-gen Traverse is expected to debut sometime during the 2023 calendar year.

  1. Next-gen can’t come soon enough. This design, like the Acadia, Equinox, and Terrain are tired looking.

  2. The low inventory thing is exactly what GM CEO Mary Barra said was going to happen so like everything else prices can be artificially inflated! I’m on third Traverse lease now probably going to go to Kia or Hyundai and breaks my heart because I was a GM man ALL my 37 years of driving!

    1. Have you looked at the prices? Those aren’t much cheaper. They used to be but not anymore. They don’t have a ton of inventory either. So not sure what you are getting at. Their lots are bare and running low supply as well. So no deals there. Not to mention, they are a descent amount smaller inside as well. The Traverse is about as big as you can get for 3 row CUV’s before getting to the body on frame big boys.

      1. The Traverse is the biggest midsize, period. Honda claims the new Pilot is but my tape measure showed it wasn’t even close. Some 8″ shorter and 4″ narrower inside.

    2. Telluride and Palisade are 6-14 month waits. Good luck getting one when you need it coming off a lease. Right now at dealers Traverses can be had for $3-5K off MSRP while Kias are selling above MSRP.

  3. I agree it sucks all over! I have til April 1 of next year to decide. Of course the other option is to buy the one I currently drive which I am heavily thinking about! Who knows hopefully things in the economy will calm down by then and some stuff will become a bit more affordable!
