GM’s OnStar service offers a variety of benefits and features for users, including the OnStar Guardian App, as detailed in the following short video from Chevrolet.

Clocking in at 3 minutes, 15 seconds, the video covers what the OnStar Guardian App is and how it works with connected Chevy vehicles. As detailed in the video, the OnStar Guardian App provides a range of different safety services, and users can add up to seven loved ones to their plan at no extra cost.

Some of the services on offer include Roadside Assistance, Emergency Services, and Location Status, as well as a Mobile Crash Response system that utilizes smartphone sensors to detect when a collision has occurred, alerting an OnStar Emergency Advisor who can then contact First Responders with location information. In addition, OnStar Emergency Advisors are available around the clock via the red SOS emergency button on the app. Critically, the app includes voice-enabled activation as well, and emergency services are even available at home.

Roadside Assistance services on offer include vehicle lockout, tire change, jump start, fuel delivery, and a tow, all of which are accessible through the app and include an estimated time of arrival for each service.

For those users that opt to include up to seven loved ones in their network, user locations are displayed in real time via the app map, also offering notifications for arrival and destination departure.

To set up the app, download and install it on a compatible smartphone, then set up an account. Users with an existing OnStar or myChevrolet mobile account should use the same login credentials. After entering the required information and verifying the phone number, users can then invite loved ones to join the “My Family” group in the app and get started sharing services.
