BMW M3 Receives 6.2L LT4 V8 Swap: Video

In today’s episode of LS swap all of the things, we have an E92-generation BMW M3. The E92 BMW, made from 2007 until 2013, featured BMW’s V10-derived 4.0-liter V8 engine. But, this one does not.

Instead, the owner dove into the GM Performance Parts catalog and picked out a 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine straight from the 2018 C7 Corvette Z06. Now, the sport coupe makes a healthy 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, but 680 hp is on tap in this application with a few modifications. According to the owner, the engine swap came after he decided the 4.0-liter V8 had a strange powerband. The LT4 V8 should offer rather linear power with plenty of guts.

And as always, the LT4 V8 sounds wonderful as the owner dips into the throttle and shows off the new creation. Check out the build in the video up above.

  2. The supercharger whine right at 6:45 – 6:46. That’s what sold me on this.
