We knew it would happen, and it has. Chevrolet’s most powerful Corvette ever lined up for good ol’ fashioned drag race with Dodge’s potent muscle car, the Challenger Demon.
However, it doesn’t work out in the Demon’s favor as the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 crushes Dodge’s pride and joy at the drag strip. Allegedly, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 is bone stock save for a set of drag radials. Which, even the Demon doesn’t exactly come with.
When the two cars line up, the Challenger Demon does shoot off first, thanks to a very quick reaction time, but the Corvette ZR1 quickly hauls itself down the track and scoots across the finish line first. The time slip doesn’t lie; the Corvette managed a 10.20-second run at 137 mph, while the Dodge Demon clocked an 11.59 at 134 mph. But remember, the Demon’s record factory time is still well under ten seconds.
But, there’s more to the story. The 10.20 time isn’t even the Corvette ZR1’s fastest time. Previously, the owner shot down the track in 10.12 seconds and became the fastest 2019 Corvette ZR1 in the process. Check out the race up above.

Has a lot to do with the drivers too…
As mentioned in the article. Demon got the jump.
Trap speed at the end of the run doesn’t have much to do with driving, assuming your right foot stays firmly planted for 1,320 feet. I still haven’t seen an independent (i.e non-FCA employee) tester get remotely close to the times Dodge claims. Anyone?
Except the tires would be FACTORY equipment on the Dodge – so its allowable, and the Corvette should only run on its factory equip not aftermarket skins…
Bragging about the better time posted prior to this run for the Corvette, well if you remember the sanctioned / documented times posted by the Demon is in the 9’s…. Demon still has the still the best 1/4 times by a pure stock American car.
Thousand pounds will do ya! (in)
I’d expect a ’19 ZR1 to beat a ’19 Demon any day….because…$120K versus $90K…and….FCA marketing is the biggest load of bovine excrement out there!
11.59 @ 134 lol. The perfect race rarely happens, but it would have been nice to see that Challenger come off the trans brake and run its true potential against King Nasty.
If you want to see which car is the best run both cars on a road track! Then that gap wont a few tenths it will be seconds!
i thought i read that the new demon was suppose to be in the 9s, any one else see that…?
Everyone has read that, but no one has seen it with their own eyes. Kinda like bigfoot.
doesn’t the Corvette engine with Cooling also the Corvette is much lighter
But the Demon can run the quarter mile in mid 9’s, if it had the correct driver…so let lay the real truth on the line!
Bigfoot.
