The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is an all-new CUV arriving in a market that can’t get enough crossovers. First to launch was the model with the base 1.5L Turbo LYX engine in the spring of 2017. Models with the 2.0L Turbo LTG and 1.6L turbo-diesel LH7 engines followed shortly after in the summer. But a funny thing happened: Chevy’s online configurator for the Equinox was not updated to reflect the additional configurations with the 2.0L turbo engine, despite these models now being available at dealers, causing uncertainty among consumers interested in the vehicle.
So while Chevy updates its Equinox configurator to include 2.0L Turbo and 1.6L Turbo Diesel configurations, we have confirmed that the model with the 2.0L Turbo will have a starting price of $30,090. That’s for the 2.0L Turbo engine in the LT (2LT) trim level and FWD. The engine is good for 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to the new GM nine-speed automatic transmission. By comparison, the 2018 Equinox with the base 1.5L Turbo engine starts at $23,580.
In the 2018 Equinox, the 2.0L Turbo will only be available with the LT (2LT) and Premier (2LZ) trim levels, with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
Stay tuned as we get more complete pricing info on the 2018 Equinox in the weeks ahead.
Comments
The 2.0 engine having 252 horsepower, versus the base 1.5 having 170 horsepower, should make the Equinox one pretty fast vehicle. Granted, the base engine was 0 to 60 in about 9 seconds. The 2.0 should be in the closer to the low 6 second range with the 9 speed trans.
I think the base engine should have had at least 185 horsepower.
The new Equinox is UGLY I don’t know if Chevrolet will survive going the toyota(UGLY & STUPID) route all the new Chevrolet designs SUCK I don’t know what happened over there but Chevrolet use to have nice looking Automobiles now Chevy’s entire lineup is starting to look like toyota’s line up and that’s an Insult because everything toyota makes is UGLY
