The words ‘big crash’ and ‘Talladega’ are pretty much synonymous and Sunday’s GEICO 500 from the infamous superspeedway is yet another race that serves as proof to that.
The ‘Big One’ happened Sunday when JTG Daugherty Racing’s AJ Allmendinger got into the rear of Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, spinning the No. 24 Chevrolet and sending it into the air partially before getting T-Boned by Team Penske’s Joey Logano in the No. 22 Ford. The No. 95 of Michael McDowell, the No. 2 of Brad Keselowski, the No. 6 of Trevor Bayne and the No. 78 of Martin Truex Jr. were also involved.
“It’s just Talladega. It’s all it is,” Allmendinger said post-wreck. “The No. 18 (Kyle Busch) and No. 24 of Chase, they were kind of moving around and at the time I think (Kevin) Harvick got behind me and we were shoving.”
Allmendinger said Elliott “opened the door” before he “kind of closed it.
“I tried to check up a little bit and tapped him, and when I checked up it was a big wreck after that,” he added.

It wouldn’t be Talladega without at least one big wreck that takes out a minimum of 6-7 cars.
