Opel is busy rolling out seven new products in 2017, and the recently revealed Opel Crossland X and Grandland X are the latest members of the brand’s portfolio.
Both are based on PSA platforms — born from a previous General Motors and PSA Groupe alliance — and expand Opel’s portfolio the growing, important crossover segment. Mark Adams, vice president of design, provides commentary on how the designs came to be in the video above.
The Mokka X, Crossland X and Grandland X each share a similar corporate face, but with their own twists. That’s especially true in the Crossland X, which replaces the Meriva MPV. To keep it crossover and MPV friendly, it’s packaging is slightly taller and provides added space over the Mokka X.
Though, we’d say the Grandland X wears the design best and its proportions are quite pleasing to look at from any angle. A shame we’ll likely never see the crossover cross the pond since it’s a European exclusive. And since Opel will transfer ownership officially by the end of this year.

Keep Opel and Mark Adams!
I hope GM is wise enough to bring Mark to Chevrolet.
