Fires beware: the 2017 Opel Insignia Sports Tourer will be there. Opel revealed the all-new fire rescue vehicle at the 17th RETTmobil show with plenty of features to create a flagship command vehicle.
The Insignia Sports Tourer wears similar liveries to the brand’s other rescue vehicles, but the Sports Tourer offers the utility and cargo capacity for departments to ensure rescue operations are executed precisely. The Insignia Sports Tourer rescue vehicle is equipped with a special signal system and LED front flashers to signify its purpose, while the trunk well houses special compartments for radio and other essential fire-fighting equipment.
The Insignia Sports Tourer rescue vehicle is equipped with 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and sends its 260 horsepower to a torque vectoring all-wheel drive system. Shifting duties are handled by an 8-speed automatic transmission.
If the Insignia Sports Tourer is simply too small, Opel has something else to benefit departments: the Vivaro Combi personnel carrier.
With a gross weight of 2.9 tons, it can carry nine firefighters with room for all essential equipment and storage compartments neatly organize everything with quick access during emergencies.
All rescue vehicles are built by Opel Special Vehicles in Rüsselsheim and will be available for order shortly.
