The Chevrolet Cruze hatchback will be the latest vehicle launch in China after General Motors announced it would launch 20 new or refreshed vehicles in the country by 2020. Now, the Cruze hatchback has a price tag in China, too.
The brand revealed the Cruze hatch to start at RMB 109,900 ($15,971 USD) and top out at RMB 169,900 ($24,691 USD) with a total of five trims available.
Each of the five trims will be available with either a 1.4-liter or 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and include the choice of a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox (DCG) transmission with start-stop function, an all-new six-speed Dynamic Start-Stop Shift (DSS) transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
Chevrolet feels the hatchback will fill a segment in China for those looking for functionality and a dose of sporting behavior. With that in mind, the brand will introduce a Cruze RS later this year.
Since the Cruze was introduced in China, the nameplate has gone on to sell 1.7 million units in the country alone. The Cruze is also Chevrolet’s best-selling nameplate worldwide, topping 4.4 million sold since 2008.
