2017 HSV GTSR W1 Is Good For Goosebumps Under Acceleration: Video

Lucky, local journalists have already had a crack at the final, most powerful HSV to ever be produced. That vehicle is the 2017 HSV GTSR W1.

Specifically, Car Advice climbed aboard the bonkers machine for some laps with an HSV racing instructor. While seeing the car on track is all fine and dandy, the real love affair is just how the GTSR W1 sounds. It’s simply lovely.

The 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 engine is paired to a reworked bi-modal exhaust after HSV received comments stating the outgoing exhaust wasn’t loud enough. Well, we think they’ve fixed those issues. Even the engine noise itself sounds utterly sublime from the cabin.

Take a listen in the video up above.

  1. Incredible car and all. I am not going to pretend I am not pissed off that we couldn’t even get a final edition of the SS here in Murica with the measly 580hp LSA engine that is in the GTS and Clubsport. Looks like my 2016 SS is just as good as what we’ll get in 2017 other than a couple different colors and that is a Terrible shame. Looks like I am just going to get a hold of an extra clean ’14+ PPV and make my own HSV Grange and do my best to convert the SS into an HSV Clubsport or GTS copy. At least I won’t have anywhere near what this W1 costs in either one and could still stuff huge stroker engines with Maggie Heartbeat under the hood making as much as double the W1’s power.
