It wasn’t the desired outcome for the 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport, but an honorable mention of third place is certainly something. Road & Track recently wrapped up its “Performance Car of the Year” competition, and the C7 Grand Sport performed its way to a third place finish.
The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport was out-performed by the Lotus Evora 400, which placed second, and the Acura NSX, which took home the win. However, placing third was no small feat.
The C7 Corvette Grand Sport was able to surpass the Audi R8 V10 Plus, BMW M4 GTS, Jaguar F-Type SVR, Mercedes-AMG C63 S, Nissan GT-R Nismo and Porsche 911 Turbo S. However, R&T crowned the NSX champ due to its unique driving experience, and incredible engineering to enhance the drive.
The Acura NSX succeeds last year’s Performance Car of the Year, the Mustang Shelby GT350R.

Kind of peculiar that the NSX placed first. The majority of auto publications have stated that it is lackluster to say the least. The Grand Sport is a BEAST! What a beautiful machine.
Totally agree!
Proof that the GS needs a NA engine in the 550+ HP range.
They need a Vette to slot in between the Grandsport and the Z06 with a next generation normally aspirated 7.0 litre formorly called the LS7, This could easily give it the power and pricepoint to make it sell in larger volume than the Z06 currently does.
I don’t understand why they didn’t test the Zo6 which is more powerful. Unless they already had decided on a outcome beforehand.
It has to be a new car/model for 2017 which the GS is. There’s nothing new about the Z06 for 2017. Maybe 2018.
Took 3rd place ,beating the GTR, Audi R8 , BMW M4, Porsche S , ru kidding me, that’s awesome achievements , the GS go for only 76k, NSX 198k , really, all these cars are over 110k , the GS only 76k , awesome job chevy , keep the good work .
As trump would say…this is rigged
Rigged indeed. Especially considering the butt-kicking the Grand Sport did at Lightning Lap 2016, including stomping the NSX, the McLaren 570S and essentially tying the 911 GT3 RS.
