The Standard, Unique And Exclusive Features Of The 2017 GMC Acadia Denali: Feature Spotlight

As we write this, GMC is launching the all-new 2017 Acadia midsize crossover across North America. There is quite a bit that’s new about the 2017 Acadia: it’s an all-new vehicle, it rides on GM’s all-new C1 platform, brings GMC into a new segment (by repositioning the nameplate), and also introduces the new Acadia All-Terrain model.

What isn’t new is the range-topping Acadia Denali model — since the trim level was offered on the outgoing, first-generation Acadia (that GMC will continue selling as the 2017 Acadia Limited). But since the 2017 GMC Acadia is an entirely new CUV, so are the features and equipment included or available in the Denali trim.

Below, we first look at the Acadia Denali’s two seating configurations, then highlight the features that are either exclusively standard or exclusively optional on the 2017 GMC Acadia Denali. We then identify those features that are either standard on the 2017 Acadia Denali and standard on other high-end trims of the 2017 Acadia, or are standard on the 2017 Acadia Denali and are available on other 2017 Acadia trim levels. Too confusing? Just check these lists.

  1. why did gm do away with the “Headup display” on the 2017 Acadia Denali?

    1. It’s a double sore point because the same platform’s XT5 model has the best looking GM HUD yet. I bet the 2018 models will have it.

      1. No HUD option? In Denali for $$$? On a totally new vehicle? Seriously? GM’s own Buick LaCrosse has HUD as an option since 2010, and not even necessarily on the top trim (CXS back then). It was available and bought as an option by some people on the middle CXL trim as well.

    2. Completely agree, cannot believe they removed the HUD after having it in the previous generation from day-1. I’m also surprised they also did away with the power-folding mirrors. With small parking spaces where I live, this is a big advantage I use daily. Since these are included in the XT5, I am hoping to see these show up in the 2018 model, along with an 8-speed or 9-speed transmission at least in the Denali trim level.

  2. Great looking vehicle.
I don’t usually like CUV’s other than jeep GC.

  3. How the dealers are supposed to sell this new smaller Denali to the people who liked Lambda crossovers for their vast interior space?
“Oh, you know, this new Acadia is smaller than the old one, but it’s so much more advanced than before!”

  4. As a huge Cadillac loyalist and fan, and wanting to replace my 12th Cadillac , a ’15 SRX, I narrowed my new vehicle search to the beautiful XT5 and what is now my new ’17 Acadia Denali. After driving an XT5 several times as a service loaner vehicle, I loved all of the significant changes and updates and of course its polished new style. I especially love the new front end treatment. I KNEW that this would be my SRX’s successor. I’m not the biggest fan, though, of the new gear shift set up. I know many other high line vehicles employ a similar lever, but it just feels too busy to me.
Then I drove the Acadia. I was all done. What an impressive SUV! While it does not boast a Cadillac crest on the grille, it certainly could! In my opinion, not only is the new style beautiful and high end looking, but it has a much quieter cabin, very user friendly controls, a noticeably smoother ride and bonus….a third row!!
As mentioned by others on here, I agree with wishing there were power folding mirrors, as I used them nearly every day. And I also liked turn signal indicators integrated into my SRX front fenders. But aside from those two items, I feel like the more compact Acadia did a better job of checking off the “must have” boxes on my list. I do wish that GMC offered a chrome version of its Denali rim as was on the previous model, but I may just have these rims chromed so no big deal.
All in all, I couldn’t find a reason NOT to go with the Denali. Although it was a bit more expensive than the Cadillac, the features more than made up for that.
I highly recommend checking one out if you’re in the market. Two thumbs up!
