The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has released its annual report for the greenest, and the meanest, vehicles prowling American roads. The council takes many factors into consideration when compiling the list, including the manufacturing process.
This year, General Motors scored two places on the greenest list, and one place on the meanest list. Not surprisingly, the greenest list is heavily dominated by electric vehicles, which have slowly begun replacing hybrids as more efficient, and more commonplace.
The Chevrolet Spark EV tops out at number two on the greenest list, while the 2016 Chevrolet Volt holds down the fort at number 11 out of 12 for the greenest cars available after data collection.
But, GM has a dirty bird on its hands. The Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana come in at number two for some of the least efficient vehicles on the market. That includes the manufacturing process for the bulky work vans.

Maybe consideration for passenger capacity should be part of the equation. Then the Express and Savana results would be a bit different.
As long as it has 500 RWHP and burn Premium gas I am all for it…..A child of the 60’s
This is a sign of a well balanced selection of products. Something for everyone.
The “greenest” was given to the Smart ForTwo Electric . That is unfair because it only carries two. It will need two trips and spend twice the energy to carry four, which the Chevy Spark EV can do in one trip and with more fun!
you’d need 3 trips unless the car drives itself back.
