General Motors South Africa Sales Up 18.6 Percent To 5,231 Units In December 2015

General Motors South Africa (GMSA), which markets the Chevrolet, Opel, and Isuzu brands, reported December 2015 sales of 5,231 vehicles, an increase of 18.6 percent, or 819 units, resulting in a market share of 10.6 percent. The sales result is quite impressive considering that domestic sales during December 2015 declined 4.2 percent across the industry compared to December 2014. GMSA markets the Chevrolet, Opel, and Isuzu brands.

Sales were mainly driven by superb performance of Light Commercial Vehicles, which accounted for 2,054 sales of the Isuzu KB, the highest sales volume month for the vehicle since 2006, and just under 1,000 sales Chevrolet Utilities. Isuzu KB sales volumes increased by 5 percent versus the same period last year while Chevrolet Utility improved by 3 percent.

    1. Something to take on the Hyundai Santa Cruz that was just approved for production. Either on the E2XX or even the D2XX Cruze platform.
I think there is a market for ‘small’ pick up truck . Car like ride, handling and fuel economy with a small box for added utility.

Unlikely it would impact Colorado/Canyon sales.

  2. Hey General Motors !!! Listen to your customers for a change, an not some idiot focus group. The small truck photo that is with this article is needed badly. There are many reason, but remember gas WILL go back up. While GM has make great strides in fuel economy I remember how the “Big Three” was caught with their pants around their ankles in the mid 1970’s Arab Oil Embargo. We need a small truck on our hobby farm that can do light duty as did the Chevy LUV of the 1970’s. The new Colorado/Canyon are not the right fit anymore. I’m looking at a ’09 Colorado model right now to fix up good as new to suit our needs.

    1. Agree with the need for a truck in this category however GM (and the Big Three) will not get ‘caught with their pants down’ again. It is a different market right now with all major manufacturers having relatively fuel efficient vehicles, including the Big Three.

  3. I want a small truck worse than anything but this one is small as in Sonic small. Also it is FWD and that has never really done well here. The Ridgeline is the best selling FWD truck and that is not saying much.

I would like to see a truck under the Colorado but keep it RWD.
