The New Opel Astra Is EMC-Tested And “Crackle Free”

In an effort to provide high-quality vehicles for customers, Opel puts the all-new Opel Astra through some EMC testing at the Rüsselsheim EMC Center. EMC is short for electromagnetic compatibility, and every vehicle tested must pass through specially equipped rooms before series production. The purpose is to ensure that all systems of the car work interference-free.

“To ensure that the components work interference-free throughout the vehicles’ lifecycle the Astra came into the EMC Center where we tested all functions extensively before series production started,” says Opel EMC Manager, Martin Wager. The use of shielding and filter technologies allows engineers to prevent interference between the systems.

Making sure systems operate smoothly and efficiently is especially important for the new Astra, as it offers quite a few systems like the IntelliLux LED matrix light, OnStar, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And with the German Accreditation Body verifying that the he Rüsselsheim EMC Center meets the ISO 17025 quality standards for professional testing laboratories, we’re sure the testing is dependable.
