Watch A Holden V8 Supercar Take On A Walkinshaw HSV GTS And Tesla Model S P85D In A Drag Race

Many automotive enthusiasts are well aware of the admittedly-impressive capabilities of the Tesla Model S, but watching it drag race against the Walkinshaw HSV GTS and a Holden V8 Supercar was enough to make us reconsider what we think we know.

Judging a book by its cover, would have us look at the three machines in question and think that there’s no way the Tesla Model S could keep up with either the HSV GTS or the V8 Supercar. But those familiar with the power band of electric vehicles, or have had some experience with the Model S P85D will know that these looks can be quite deceiving.

As the makers of the video point out, the 0-60 times of both the Model S P85D in Insane Mode and that of the V8 Supercar are about 3 seconds. Spoiler alert, the Model S walks the Walkinshaw HSV GTS by about a bus length. We won’t spoil the second race for you, so we encourage you to share your reactions in the comment section after you’ve watched the video. At the least, it should leave you impressed, if not wondering about the future of motorsports and electric cars.

  1. That’s just freakn’ crazy!! A stock, all electric Sedan owning a couple of hot internal combustion super cars……..I can just see Nikola Tesla grinning at Henry Ford after that display of gas versus electric!
