Holden Racing Team And Craig Lowndes Win Bathurst 1000

Craig Lowndes wouldn’t let the elements keep him from bringing home a win at the 2015 Bathurst 1000. And bring home a win he did indeed. In fact, his latest Bathurst 1000 victory now tallies to six wins at the great race.

Lowndes began the race in an underwhelming fashion, missing the top ten shootout after rain plagued qualifying, and kept to the middle of the pack for much of the race. Right behind him the entire time, however, was teammate Jamie Whincup. Whincup made the devastating mistake of passing the safety car under yellow, pushing him out of second place, and allowing Whincup to build the lead he needed.

As Road & Track points out, it was the first Bathurst 1000 in some time that was not decided by a near photo finish across the line, though it still made for an incredibly intense race.

Following the Bathurst 1000, the V8 Supercars Series heads to the Gold Coast 600, where Whincup will be hard pressed to take home another championship title following his results at Bathurst.

Congratulations to Lowndes and HRT on the victory from all of us here at GM Authority.

  1. For a start, whoever wrote this has no idea about V8 Supercars. Craig Lowdnes has not driven for HRT for quite some time, and in fact drives for 888 Race Engineering Australia (hence the number 888 on his car). Maybe it’s time to hire an Aussie who knows a thing or two about motorsport?

    1. You beat me to it. I was about to point out the obvious mistake myself. I’m sure Craig is having a laugh & very glad he doesn’t drive for HRT anymore. I know I am, I can’t stand Ryan Walkinshaw or Adrian Burgess.

    2. Yes I had to laugh at that also !
Congratulations to Triple 888 Racing and Craig Lowndes on an awesome race.
Here’s hoping Commodore take out the 2017 and the 2018 Grand Final Bathurst before leaving the party in style !!
