The 2016 Chevrolet Volt Has Already Been Taken For A Test Drive

One individual — who doesn’t work for General Motors — was recently lucky enough to test drive the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, and they sure made it sound enticing for those in the market for a new hybrid.

The person fortunate enough to receive this opportunity hails from the land of maple syrup, thanks to connections they have in the General Motors Ohsawa headquarters up in Canada. Going by the name “kickincanada” on the GM-Volt.com forum, the driver posted a description of their 30 minutes with the Volt.

While the EPA rated the car’s official range to be 53 electric miles, kickincanada reckons he could squeeze out 62 electric miles, which should raise the already impressive 106MPGe. But he wasn’t only impressed by the new Volt’s efficiency, in fact, it seemed that it was pleasantly better than expected in regards to all aspects.

The review mentions a more appealing interior that had a higher quality feel to it, with comfortable seats and smooth ergonomics. To him, the 2016 Volt felt more like a Cadillac and less like a Chevrolet – we’ll take this to be evidence of Chevrolet’s great improvements. Not surprisingly, the review made an appreciative mention of Apple CarPlay and the wireless cellphone charging station.

Lastly, we have to mention the love given to the design of the new Volt, and also agree with it. It seems to have hit the mark of an aggressive, cutting-edge new EREV that, if you ask us, the new Toyota Prius design missed.

A car-loving millennial. We Are!

  1. You wanna tap Toyota on the shoulder and ask, “Have you seen your own Prius C? That doesn’t give you any better design ideas? No? Nothing?”

  2. Honestly,
i am not a fan of the looks of the new Volt, i have a 2012, which i love, it has been trouble free and a wonderful experience of everything that a US market car can be. The ergonomics are fantastic, the seats are comfortable, and it is peppy in that the throttle response is instantaneous. While on paper it is “slow” it is not in real life driving situations, where a traditional car needs to be in a sweet spot and the transmission needs time to downshift the ev mode of the volt will toss you in the seat and rocket itself into the other lane. It is extremely well built for an American car. I have owned toyota’s and honda’s almost exclusively, and after driving the Volt, i will be purchasing a new Ev/Er Chevrolet eventually.. I have gone a total of 11K+ miles on only electric, and my cost per month is 17.50 to charge it, i have gotten gas twice in the past 3 years. I honestly love this car..
