2016 Chevy Trax Gets A Bunch Of New Colors And Equipment Group Changes

The Chevy Trax launched in the United States for the 2015 model year. And now, roughly a year after its unveiling, Chevy is already updating the Gamma-platformed subcompact crossover with new colors and equipment groups.

For starters, the 2016 Chevrolet Trax replaces four colors with five new ones:

Deleted Colors

  • Victory Red
  • Ruby Red Metallic
  • Blue Topaz Metallic
  • Satin Steel Metallic

New Colors

  • Crimson Metallic (Retail and Fleet)
  • Sable Metallic (Retail only; extra cost)
  • Champagne Silver Metallic (Retail only)
  • Cyber Gray Metallic (Retail and Fleet)
  • Mosaic Black Metallic

In addition, the 2016 Trax gets a new set of LPO-level 18-inch Midnight Silver aluminum wheels while the name of the Plus Package (PDB) changes to Convenience Package. Plus, the MH8 and MHB 6-speed automatic transmissions available in the 2015 Trax are replaced by a single 6-speed auto gearbox (MNK).

Changes to the 2016 Trax fleet model include modifications to the 1FL Equipment Groups:

  • Power driver seat is now an option
  • Front and rear carpeted floor mats become standard; there’s also an available floor mats delete option

Here’s the list outlining the full RPO-level changes to the 2016 Chevy Trax over the 2015 Trax:

Deletions

  • (GCN) Victory Red exterior color
  • (GCS) Ruby Red Metallic exterior color
  • (GTS) Blue Topaz Metallic exterior color
  • (GYM) Satin Steel Metallic exterior color

New Features

  • (G7T) Crimson Metallic exterior color (Retail and Fleet)
  • (G7U) Sable Metallic exterior color (Retail only; extra cost)
  • (GWT) Champagne Silver Metallic exterior color (Retail only)
  • (GBV) Cyber Gray Metallic exterior color (Retail and Fleet)
  • (GB8) Mosaic Black Metallic exterior color (Fleet only)
  • (SE4) 18″ Midnight Silver aluminum wheels, LPO

Changes

  • (B32) Front and rear carpeted floor mats are now standard on 1FL Equipment Groups with an available (R8R) floor mats delete option
  • (AG9) Power driver seat is now an available option on 1FL Equipment Groups
  • Package name for (PDB) changed from Plus Package to Convenience Package
  • (UE1) OnStar Directions and Connections plan for 6 months, changes to Guidance plan included for 6 months (trial excludes Hands-Free Calling minutes)
  • (MNK) 6-speed automatic transmission replaces (MH8) and (MHB) 6-speed automatic transmissions

  2. This lil’ Trax is a hot seller along with its sister the Encore . GM is starting to add some luxury to its Trax moving it a bit more upscale . GM ” REALLY ” needs to get its $hit together and launch a Cadillac version . And I dont mean a rebadged one either . By the time it comes to market there wont be much of the pie left as other automakers are joining the a game . My neighbor has an Encore and its a sweet looking CUV . So , while we wait on Cadillac , Buick will continue to sell lots of them along with the Trax . It would be cool to see the Trax come in a couple of special editions like Chevy is now doing withe their trucks . JM .02 .

  5. How about making the Trax a convertible. I miss my old Geo Tracker Convertible, that was a great car to cruise around.
