The Tequila Patron Sportscar Showcase at Long Beach is the first sprint race of the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship, coming after the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Despite its short 100-minute duration, the race is packed with excitement, partly a by-product of the tight, concrete-lined track at Long Beach.
This year’s TUDOR race at Long Beach saw prototype cars from Chevrolet, Ford, Honda/Ligier and Mazda square off against each other, while GT cars from Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, Corvette and BMW raced from a separate start. The two-tiered start allows the prototype cars to keep their distance from the slower GT cars for a larger portion of the race, which is especially important on the narrow Long Beach circuit.
If you’re interested in the results from the race, you can read all about the prototype finish here, and the GT finish here. If you haven’t seen the race, however, we suggest you resist the temptation to ruin it for yourself by reading the results and watch it in its entirety just below.
The TUDOR series is keeping it in California for another couple of weeks, with the Continental Tire Grand Prix presented by Mazda at Lagun Seca set to kick off on May 2-3.
