When the second-generation Chevy Equinox launched in North America in 2010, it was arguably the freshest, best-looking vehicle in its segment. Consumers have obviously taken note of its styling, functionality, and overall value proposition, making the Equinox one of the most popular models in its segment.
Five years after its debut, though, the Equinox has begun to show its age. That’s why, just one year ahead of the debut of the all-new 2017 Equinox, Chevrolet has released the refreshed 2016 model that delivers refreshed front and rear fascias along with a new trim level. Our question: which do you like more: the 2016 Chevy Equinox or the 2010-2015 model?

Should have saved this question till next year. As it I now the changes are so minor that it is more about getting a better deal on the 15 vs. the 16. Also I have heard the CD player was eliminated so if you still own CD’s.
As an owner of the GMC that we will see the small changes in NYC on I would just wait for the new platform.
But the new minor update I expect will continue good and possibly increase sales as they have the last 4 years
These kind of changes used to be commonplace — nothing too significant. The freshening is good but not a “WOW!” in my opinion but it should help sustain the sales momentum.
Stupid to do a refresh on the last model year. At this point – what difference does it make?
Are Men allowed to buy the 2016 version? or is it women only?
I have the 2009 Equinox, and it is the last model year of the first generation which looks like the Chevy trucks.. The second generation is less agressive and looks like the Malibu. This 2016 refresh makes it look like the Impala sedan and Tranverse SUV, and more of a Chevy family vehicle. I like it. but I am curious on how the thrid generation Equinox will look like, and if there will be an EREV or BEV version.
I like the refresh , just suprised it didnt come a year or two ago. Sales will for sure stay strong , but there will be hold outs for the newbie in 17 . It will give the rental car fleet a boost though . If I had to complain about the refresh its the new wheels . Eveytime I see them they remind me of a pinwheel . !? JMO
Come on GM give us a lil’ sneak peek of the Terrain and XT5 . From the camo pics I have seen the front grill looks to be like the Canyons and Sierra . That for sure would line it up withe the rest of the family of GMC’s .
I don’t think the ’16 looks better or worse than the 2010-15 vehicle; it’s just different. Is GM doing a minor refresh of the Terrain too? I prefer the GMC version because its styling is more brutish and masculine, while the current Equinox employs a lot of soft lines.
Just took delivery of a 2016 LT. Our dealer (H&K Continental, Ohio) did not have it on their lot with the features we wanted. So they got it from another dealer. In steps 2, 3 and 4 of the purchase process, we were assured by our salesperson that ours would have a CD player and mud flaps. Guess what? After agreeing on the out the door price. The dealer tagged on the price of the mudflaps and told us a CD player was not an option on the 2016. The salesperson never said he was sorry or offered any type of solution for the lack of a CD player. As far as the mudflaps, the salesperson assisted he could not include them in the out the door price we agreed on. My spouse got it resolved with a manager. Back to the CD player. I see Ford and other manufacturers still offer them. Our 2013 LT had one and on long trips it was great to listen to CDs when radio reception was horrible.
W are just now looking into buying a Chevy Equinox and I just found out the 2016 model had NO cd player but I think I am going to like the “thumb drive” method. I can download lots of cds on the thumb drive and insert it into the receiver. It then comes over the radio. If you think about it, it takes up a lot less space for one thumb drive over several cds. BUT, I haven’t bought one YET. Waiting for a pre-owned one in the right color and price.
will a 2016 Chevy Equinox 2.4 L motor fit into a 2013 Chevy Equinox 2.4 l
