After our track time with Chevrolet’s road-legal racecar, the 2014 Camaro Z/28, we concluded that it was a raw vehicle tailored for the track, whose limits can only be reached by those who rank themselves among the upper echelon of drivers. Based on this, we figured it was only a matter of time before someone crashed one. We just didn’t think it would be this soon.
The video below from Facebook shows a white 2014 Z/28 being hustled around Road America, just as it’s supposed to be, before it all goes wrong. It’s hard to tell from the video, but it appears that the driver lifted off the throttle after losing some traction, sending the car into a complete spin before making contact with the wall. Judging by the agonizing noise emitting from the engine bay, it’s entirely possible that the car may not live to drive another day, and considering the Z/28’s expensive components, it wont be cheap, either.
But our personal favorite part of the video is the response from OnStar, when the advisor offers to call 9/11, but the driver informs him that he’s at a racetrack, which seems to catch the OnStar advisor by surprise.

A wise man once told me to never lift, ever.
I just read else where a old saying.
Stand on the gas till you crap your pants and then don’t lift till you can’t stand the smell.
I loved the sound on this video. I wonder how cold his tires were.
It was amazing how he said so little after the hit.
As the saying goes for safety:” It is better to have OnStar and not need it, than need it and not have it.” This driver was lucky he had OnStar and a local safety crew on site. I have OnStar equipment in my Equinox, but I wish it was available in my area!
