First Chevrolet Volt Available For Retail To Be Sold Through Online Charity Auction

Starting today (Nov. 30th) and running through 6 p.m. on December 14th, the second Chevrolet Volt suited for retail will be on an online auction block, with all proceeds going to Detroit Public Schools math and science departments. Why not the first Chevrolet Volt? Because General Motors will be holding onto that piece of history, as a symbol of accomplishment for its engineers and all others involved in the Volt program that managed to bring the milestone vehicle alive from a paper sketch in a span of just 39 months.

Those who are willing to make an offer on this special Volt and thus help the DPS in the process, can visit the auction’s website here. The winner will be announced December 16th, and the opening bid was $50,000, but at the time of this post the current bid is $80,000 – practically double that of the Volt’s original MSRP.
