THIS Is How You Autocross A Corvette: Video

There are fast drivers, and there are really fast drivers. Ace Detroit Region SCCA driver Andrew Ramos definitely fits into the latter category, consistently placing among the top in just about every SCCA autocross event he has competed in. His class is this highly competitive Street Touring Ultimate (STU), and his weapon of choice is a 1999 Chevrolet C5 Corvette FRC that’s been built for the class.

At the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Championship Tour finale last month at Toledo Express Airport, Ramos emerged victorious on Day 2, besting 19 other drivers in the Street Touring Ultimate (STU) class. His margin of victory: a narrow 0.141 seconds over the next-fastest driver, who also drove a 1999 Corvette. Lucky for us, Ramos had an in-car camera rolling for his winning autocross run, allowing us to see what a successful, top-tier performance looks like at the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Championship level.

Be sure to click play on the video above to watch Andrew Ramos’ winning autocross run for yourself, and pay close attention; you might learn a thing or two.

SCCA Solo National Championships take place next week.
