Buick doesn’t really want you to remember its floaty, uninspired cars from the late 1990s and early 2000s. But, they’re still around, and they’re nearly bulletproof. Even better: they’ll basically float, as evidenced by the driver of this Buick LeSabre.
Of course, we would never condone taking on floodwaters, but this guy decided to ignore all warnings and go for it anyway.
The video was taken in St. Louis, Missouri, after flooding shut down sections of Interstate 44. Local news affiliate KTVI sent its chopper out to survey the scene and was probably shocked to see a lone LeSabre braving the high waters. The Buick absolutely cruises down the freeway into the water. Note, the water is nearly as high as the wheel wells themselves.
Keep watching and you’ll see it was likely a really dumb move. After successfully taking on the flood, water can be seen rushing out of the doorsills and other panels. Best of all? The driver looks utterly unphased, leaning against the door sill, propping his head up with his arm. Just another day in the life of, we suppose.
Again, don’t ever try this, even if you think the 3800 V6 truly is a warrior in its own right.

That looks like a nice undercarriage wash. But then again like NOAA says most drowning deaths occur in vehicles!
At least he got the underside of the car the cleanest it’s probably been in a long time. I still would not have tried that in it though.
I had a Buick LeSabre and it was the best car I ever owned.Wish I had another 2001 Buick LeSabre.worth every penny I paid for it
I remember the 00-05 LeSabre and the 92-99 before it when it was the best selling full size in the land and sold better than all of Buick’s current sedans combined. They were great cars and with the Grand Touring suspension upgrade could handle pretty well too. My loaded 00 was one of the best cars I ever owned.
You can’t effin kill a Buick LeSabre, like you really can’t. My Mom has an old ’97 as a runabout and purrs like a kitten. LOL
