It has been years since Chevrolet offered a proper, medium-duty truck for buyers, but that changes today. Chevrolet stated its low cab forward, medium-duty trucks are officially on their way to dealerships.
“We’re in the business of helping our commercial customers succeed, and a big part of that is providing the vehicle choices they need to efficiently operate their businesses,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet. “Our new Low Cab Forward trucks are the answer for our customers who require expansive payload, cargo-hauling capabilities and exceptional maneuverability.
The low cab forward trucks are built with a reinvigorated partnership between Japanese automaker Isuzu and are offered in either regular or crew cab configurations.
Chevrolet will offer the medium-duty trucks with three engine choices: a 6.0-liter V8 gas engine, a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine or a 5.2-liter turbo-diesel engine. All engines are mated to six-speed automatic transmissions.
If a Chevrolet low cab forward truck is what you fancy, pricing starts at $40,900 for trucks with gasoline engines and $48,375 with diesel powertrains.

Are the going to produce any Medium Duty Regular cabs to compete with the Ford F550,650 and so on?
These do compete in that segment. But I believe they start production next year of the regular looking medium duty as well. 4500, 5500, and what not.
Jim where did you see that they were going to resume production of the regular 4500 and larger series. I have an aging fleet of those trucks and I started to replace them with the new dodges. I don’t really like them, but they are really my only choice

Boy GM is stupid. Why not GMC., GMC had a better group of MD dealers. I used to work at one. We did well with the Isuzu/GMC trucks.
Well I guess Steve that while your dealer did well, it obviously was not the case looking at the big picture since GM stopped building medium duty trucks back in the late ’00’s
I wondered about that too why not have the GMC name on them instead but I answered my own question. It’s no secret that GMC and CHEVROLET have been the same product forever and GMC only exists is so that BUICK dealers can sell trucks and SUV’s just like CHEVROLET dealers. Granted, GMC mediums were sold at their own dealers but those are all but gone or they were sold at CHEVROLET dealers under the CHEVROLET nameplate. The brochures often state this.
I’m not trying to blast anyone here but duplication and overlap across the whole GM car and truck line is part of the reason that they had problems.
Will any commercial customer even care which nameplate it has if its the same truck? Will the BUICK/GMC dealer be trained to service these things or will a CHEVROLET dealer be the choice here?
