We understand that some of you may have a hard time accepting the reality of a Chevrolet V8 engine under the hood of a Honda Civic, but we also know many more of you will love it. And what’s not to love? A race car weighing in at 2,300 pounds that’s powered by a 1,000 hp twin-turbo Small Block V8, and is capable of making 1/4 mile passes in under 8 seconds sounds absolutely fantastic to us. What’s more impressive is the steadiness of the car as the owner, Jeff Lutz, guns it down the strip. The car’s not all over the place and doesn’t seem to have any wheel slippage off the line, thanks in part to those massive drag radials.
As if it weren’t already beastly enough, Jeff says it’s got more in it. The boost was turned up to just 13 psi, and with those two massive 76 mm turbochargers we’re sure this setup is capable of much more.
So yeah, pretty fantastic build. And it actually took Jeff 4 years to complete. It’s not too often that we come across 1,000 horsepower builds. We’re looking forward to seeing more this small block Civic, are you? Speak to us in the comment section below.
