2016 Opel Mokka Priced With Whisper Diesel, Opel OnStar Ready To Roll

Opel has released a few updates to the wildly successful Opel Mokka in Europe (aka Buick Encore stateside). Foremost, Opel has priced the 2016 Mokka with the brand’s latest “whisper” diesel at €24,185, the most price-conscious way to enter the frugal engine.

Opel says the price reflects a 500 Euro decrease in price over the outgoing diesel model, but efficiency improves enormously. The 1.6-liter CDTI diesel engine provides 100 hp, and a bountiful 221 lb-ft of torque for the compact crossover. Opel says the latest diesel is the smoothest, most frugal diesel to ever be offered in the brand’s powertrain lineup. And it’s responsive, too. The torque is available at the 2,000 RPM range.

The bigger news is Opel’s introduction of OnStar for Europe. While the U.S. has enjoyed the safety and technology included with OnStar, Europe will begin its experience shortly. Opel will offer a one-year free trial for new buyers in an effort to have consumers experience Opel OnStar first hand. OnStar will come with the suite of safety features the U.S. knows, and loves, plus 4G LTE wireless capability.

Finally, Opel has spruced up the 2016 Opel Mokka with the introduction of the Black Roof Edition. It is exactly what it sounds like. Opel will offer the 2016 Mokka with a glossy black roof and side mirrors to add a tad of pizazz to the quirky crossover’s styling. Additionally, two new colors will be available: True Blue metallic and Abalone White.

  1. GM has got a hit on their hands. I see them everywhere. I almost leased one… black on black. I liked it a lot.

  2. GM needs to trademark the name Whisper diesel and use it across the product line in the US especially since the Cruze diesel didn’t live up to forecasts

    1. Yes, whisper diesel is a great name!

You sure the Cruze diesel didn’t live up to forecasts? Or was it just a low-volume play to begin with?

  3. Lets just say there was just not a lot of love for the Cruze Diesel. All the people who cried for one just never bought one.

Kind of like the guy who always wants to buy your car till it is for sale. LOL!

This one should do well in Europe as it fits their needs and likes well.
