2015 Vauxhall Adam S Drops ‘Grand Slam’ Name

Was it a bases-loaded home run? A greasy breakfast from your local Denny’s? Nope. It was the range topping trim level for the 2015 Vauxhall Adam S. Not any longer, though.

Vauxhall has axed the name last minute just as orders began for the car. According to Auto Expressthe name was having the opposite effect Vauxhall imagined for the car. Grand Slam was supposed to evoke thoughts of a loaded 2015 Adam S. When studying consumers, it was decoded as a bargain trim full of value.

The decision was also taken after much critical disclaim from journalists and figures in the industry who were less than complimentary about the… interesting name choice.

Originally, the Grand Slam nameplate was to set apart the 2015 Adam and 2015 Corsa, since the base trim of Corsa arrives in ‘S’ variant, where the Adam’s range-topping variant is ‘S.’ But, the awkward nameplate is gone for good, with Vauxhall already changing all information on the 2015 Adam S Grand Slam on their website to merely 2015 Adam S.
