The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is almost here. We’ve seen performance pre-production prototypes testing at the Nurburgring, Convertible prototypes and now, Camaro News has new photos showing an entire fleet of sixth-gens looking almost production-ready.
The photos show four sixth-generation Camaro coupes testing somewhere outside the California Desert in Coachella Valley. At least one of the cars appears to be a high performance SS model, judging from the quad exhaust tips, and all of them have black wheels which look like they could be around 20-inches in size.
Chevy’s sixth-generation Camaro may make an appearance at the New York Auto Show in March, bringing with it a new Alpha chassis, a version of Chevrolet’s next-generation small block V8 and other massive improvements. The high-performance ZL1 replacement, if it comes, could also have some of the same features as the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V.

Really, really disapointed in this. I had hoped for something fresh. They’ve gone down the Porsche path where every new 911 looks like every other 911.
Except that the 911 has a timeless style to it. This car is just being stubbornly retro.
Sorry, but I have a feeling it is going to be different than the picture shown here as per the leaked image from CamaroNews, com
Looks boring.
I think retro has run its course. Apparently they are modernizing the interior but trying to milk a few more sales from the old, funky body style.
How many times do we have to go through this? Let them take off the masking and from a opinion on fact and not camo.
This car is not going to be confused with the last model once you see the real thing.
Second If they changed it even more radically then we would have the same number of people complaining they went too far.
In the end this car like the Mustang just did will come out half will love it half will hate it and 6 month from then 90% will love it. We see this play time and time again with different players but the same results.
There is a lot more to the coming car than most of you realize. This is not just a restyling but this time it is a car build on platform with proper funding and a platform that it was meant to be on from the start.
the truth is nearly all Camaro’s back to the 2rd gen were all compromises of lack of money or having to use what they had to use like the Zeta. While they did a very good job they always left a little on the table and never fully got what they wanted in the design and engineering teams.
This time little will be left on the table and we will see a much more refined car and a much more advanced car. This car to compared to the 5th Gen will be like comparing a C7 to a C6. The only real limitation this time will be the price point it has to sell at limiting things they just can’t do because if they run the price up too much no one would buy it.
So let them finish the car and really see what you get as I think you will be happy in the end. If not it is what it is and you would not be happy anyways.
The evolution of the styling here is not full on retro and not full on new direction. It is like the Mustang a design that takes the next step but not to the point it leave everything in the past. If it’s not broke then just tweak it is how they both have done their styling this time.
Let’s get something straight here first! I’m really glad it’s built it in Lansing! Now I wish for a new Camaro that’s different than the same old boring mustang, with good exhaust sound or that big bulky gas hog charger! You’ve done that,I absolutely love the ZL1! What an awesome rocket it is! 600 Hp!!! No mustang is going to come close to that! I would buy this new Camaro in a “Heartbeat”
