2015 Corvette Z06 Finally Spotted Uncovered On Public Roads

Chevrolet may have unveiled its 2015 Corvette Z06 at the North American International Auto Show in January, but work on the car was far from being complete. Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and his team still have to work some more of their magic on the car before it reaches customer’s hands, and it seems their doing it in the open for all to see.

A black Corvette Z06 prototype was recently spotted cruising gingerly down the highway with no attempt to mask what it was. Even though the Z06 has already been revealed in its entirety, sometimes these prototypes will still have small pieces of camouflage here and there, but this one looks about as production-ready as they come.

Corvette Blogger points out this C7 Z06 appears to be wearing the “Stage 2” aero package offered from the factory. The carbon fiber front splitter is present, however the side winglets are smaller and don’t ride up the sides of the front bumper as much. The side splitters are present, as is the aggressive rear spoiler, which appears to be missing the clear “wicker bill” insert.

It is expected Chevrolet will offer a top-of-the-line “Stage 3” aerodynamics kit with more aggressive splitters and the wicker bill spoiler, in addition to a “Stage 1” base model with minimal aerodynamic enhancements.

  2. Could not have been spotted in Detroit area, the guy in front of the car with the camera was actually going faster in the left lane than the traffic in the right lane. That never happens in Detroit – unless of course he wants to get ahead far enough to cut over in front of the car in the right lane to make a sudden exit (at which time the guy in the right lane will speed up so he can’t get over)……lol.

Anyone from Detroit going to tell me I’m not right about that assessment??

  5. I lost interest in the Corvette when they decided to copy the Dodge Viper. If a company like GM cannot come up with new and more creative ideas, they need to shut the doors.

    1. I lost interest in your comment when I realized that you copied me in having 2 legs, 2 arms, and a head. But where you failed was not putting enough brains into your head. Like the viper.

  8. Does anyone know if you can get the 5YW New motorsports wheel design on a Z51 2015 Corvette?

Also, anyone have comments on over the road comfort of the competition seats. I like the styling but I am concerned about seats being too stiff for road trips
