GM’s Asian operations have opened the doors to its all-new state-of-the-art Powertrain plant in Rayong, Thailand. The facility cost ฿6 billion THB (or $200 million USD) after it was all said and done, and will be responsible for the production of GM’s all new small diesel engines, which will wear the Duramax badge.
The 2.8L Duramax was featured in the next generation Chevy Colorado, when it was revealed in Bangkok earlier this year. The new Colorado will be built in a facility just next to the new engine plant.
